What movie/book is this sci fi scene from?

People came in one space ship to fix another (or maybe they were fixing a space station). One guy gets un-tethered. He has to throw little bolts to be able to propel himself back to the spaceship.

What book movie is that from?! I remember the scene but can't remember where it came from.
