I need to write an essay with one example about not giving up on one's dreams.

The actual question goes like this:

Is it important to have dreams about the future, or can you live a happy, successful life without them?

I need an example for the former part of the question, taken from literature.

Thanks.
I need this within a day. It's due this Friday.

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck has this as a central idea. The story about George and Lennie retiring on a farm that they run/own, with rabbits is what keeps them going in life. (It contrasts the protagonists, who have a dream, with the other ranch hands, who don't, right from the first time George tells the story in the first chapter)
