What parts are needed for a brake job on a front axle of a 4x4 SUV?

I have a 97 lexus lx450. I need to change the brake and rotors on the front but on the hubs there are also another set of nuts and there are probably a bunch of seals i have to replace. any idea of what parts i should get to stay ahead of it and not find myself needing extra parts half -way through the dismantle?

If your are not sure you would be better off taking the car somewhere to have them done. IT would cost about $60 plus parts. I am saying this because I repair things everyday that someone wanted to save a penny on and do it there self.

i am 17 and work at a automotive shop at school so if i am wrong please correct me well on the seals and fittings for the brake line if there are any cracks or dry rot i would replace and i would go with copper alloy it is very easy to bend but if u have other tubes u prefer to keep the tube from kinking i put sand in the tube and and on the ends put duct tape. then do what u have to do but on Lexus i have had to drill the rotors out a few times. but fore part u need a C clamp, brake pads or drums, and rotors. first start with taking the tire off then take off the brake caliper and take the clips on the caliper then after that if u have a sand blaster i sand blast the clips then take the pads off and this is where the C clamp comes in there is a round thing with a hole put the old bad there and get the C clamp and push the thing back so it compresses it together.then put the new pads in and put it on and tighten the bolt and then put the tire on and u need to torque the lug nuts to proper torquing is 80 foot pounds if i am correct i think and am pretty sure on that but u fix what u thing needs fixed so now u know how to do brakes.

Depends on the type of brakes ,drums or disc ?
1. some sort of brake pad
2. might need a drum or disc turned ,depends on condition .
3.dot 10 wt oil or brake fluid .

shouldn't need to mess with the seals , might be able to release the bleeder valve ,and back off the calipers remove the pins replace pads and be on your way .

Best for you to get a repair manual at an auto parts store before dismantling everything..........and the rotors should be OK unless there is heavy scoring

go to like auto zone where they have diafgrams on their pcs and tell him u need all the parts to do front brakes ...BUY DOT APPROVED BRAKE FLUID TOO

The parts store is the perfect place to ask this question , they can tell you what parts are needed and if you need any special tools to do the job , most even rent tools , you should be able to buy a manual that tells you and shows pictures of how to do the job
