A while ago I took apart a scanner to take any parts from it. I have a small u-shaped part (about 1" by 1") with an led on one side and what looks like an LED detector on the detector. The LED is a UV LED, and I have proven that it work with 2 C batteries. The other side has 3 wires coming off of it, red on the left, green in the middle, and black on the right. I am trying to figure out if I can use the part as a light detector. I've tried using a multimeter to figure out when there is no resistance, but I can't figure it out. I don't even know what the part is called.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Eric
