There's a strong sewer gas odor in front of my house from the roof vents. What can I do? My plumber says the only solution would be to install vent covers. Is that necessary and would that work ?
Are the vent covers suppose to absorb the gas some how I would venture to think that smell is from a second source. broken sewer pipe or maybe a septic tank fill line. I tell you what to do. Go to fireworks stand and purchase smoke bomb and light on top of roof in the evening time ( calm wind condition and air is heaver) and see which way the smoke travels. This way you will know what to look for. Never heard or your problem from roof vents. You can purchase smoke bomb also from plumbing supply house Good luck hope this helps.
