I have hypothroidism. My meds for it (my fingers and hands) have worked until lately -- now, they don't seem to help at all. With all my health issues I am mightily discouraged. At age 78, I have a few more years but, will I have still have the strength to suck up all my pain? I also have peripheral neuropathy affecting my feet with huge discomfort.

My doc prescribes oxycontin at 80 mgs 3x a day. However, at this point I need more for continued pain relief -- my doc says "no" no higher dose for me. I am a addicted to this drug; in adequate doses, it does truly help. I am aware that dosage must be increased periodically and that, according to my doc is bad because I am an old guy and he thinks higher doses will put me at risk. So, that's my tale of woe. I don't know where to go or what to do. Pain mgmt. at a clinic nearby says there's nothing that can be done. I would truly appreciate suggestions.
