One year ago I worked at a restaurant near my university campus for about one week. The manager let me go home and it was my last day because he believed I didn't perform properly. I was surprised when he told me that and have worked in customer service many times before. I will be graduating university soon and want to find a job as an accountant.

Do I need to tell my future employers about this past job?

If you only worked there for a week, I would say it is irrelevant and don't reveal it, particularly because it didn't have to do with accounting. However, if an application specifically states that you should not leave out any jobs, or asks if you have ever been fired, I would reveal it. Lying on an application is harder to explain than a random boss who terminated you for reasons that may or may not be legitimate. If you are asked about it, just be honest. Tell them the boss wasn't happy with your performance, but didn't explain what particular aspect of your performance he had issues with. Then, emphasize that your prior employers were happy with your performance. Everybody's employment history has bumps like that. It's a general pattern that your future employers will be looking at.

no . It would not even cross my mind to tell any future employer about that job..

it's gone - never happened
