what type of shelters did early modern humans live in?

we all know that humans today live in houses and apartment, and so on but what did early humans live in? Caves too?
BTW: This is very important cause it's for a project due on Monday, Jan 12, 2009 so please try to answer!

Depending on how far back you want to track, humans have lived in a multitude of shelters. Caves were certainly used. This is evidenced by cave paintings. Nomadic tribes like the Mongols and native Americans had portable homes usually made from wood and animal hides. Shelters can also made from any available material - such as thatched grass, stone, sod and snow. Try doing some on line searches for specific information.
