...Forged AKC papers? REAL answers only please... A friend told me she bought an AKC APBT off of Cragislist and I told her that, that breed is not accepted by the AKC and she must have mistaken it for another KC. She showed me the papers though and it said he was an APBT and the KC WAS the AKC...

How often are people misled with forged papers?

Anyway... she insisted it was an accepted breed (because of her forged papers). She got pissed when I told her they were forged and she should get her money back. Anyway... LONG story short... I was looking at stuff online to prove to her that an APBT is not accepted and came across an article explaining that the AST is the SAME breed as the APBT and that the AKC just changed the name after a while (they had accepted APBT in the past apparently). It went on to show pictures of dogs that ahd been dual registered as an APBT with the UKC and an AST with the AKC. It

So I guess in a sense she was correct and I was also correct...

What made the AKC change the name?

Were the papers forged for certain? I'm saying yes since the AKC recognizes the breed as AST and not APBT, but she's STILL insisting these papers are legit.
