Of course i know the whole legend and the idea is that he did it so that we could have our sins forgiven and so that we won't all end up knee deep in fire and brimstone. Well, first off this raises all sorts of questions about all the people that died before 32 AD or whenever it was he died... second of all how exactly does that equate? I mean why is it that Jesus dying in excruciating agony means that now God can forgive us of our sins? Why was God so ruthless before that whole thing? And what exactly about it made it ok for us to be forgiven? Im not really seeing the connection there. . . all I ever hear is he had to do it for our sins to be forgiven... well why?
your not answering my question (except maybe the guy who said the story needed a climax) You just keep saying "he had to he had to god said so" no. look at it this way. cause and affect. I drop something and it falls kind of deal(even if u dont understand gravity this is fairly simple) So, once again, what changed between before jesus' horrific death and after... what about it made any difference other than sending a message, which in no way relates to us being able to be forgiven
oh one other little thing if we could refrain from the whole gratuitous use of superficial adjectives and adverbs when referring to god and jesus it makes whatever your trying to say very confusing and your really lose the point (hm if i didnt know better i would say thats a very good question dodging technique) concise, to the point factual answers would greatly be appreciated

a perfect man Adam lost eternal life for all human kind...Jesus a perfect man had to exchange his life to buy back eternal life for us all.

It's called the ransom sacrifice because Jesus paid the price.

By taking upon Himself, the sins of the world, God was able to establish a payment for our sins (assuming we have repented of our sins and made Jesus our Lord and our Saviour).

It is clear throughout the Bible that the consequence of sin is death. This death is not so much a physical death - after all Adam & Eve didn't die physically in the Garden of Eden after eating the forbidden fruit - but they were alienated from God, they suffered a spiritual death. We are all, in our natural state, separated from God.

But Jesus, God the Son, is referred to in the Bible as the 'second Adam' because He came to reverse what Adam (& Eve) had done. By submitting during His brief earthly life to the will of God the Father, he who was sinless, took upon the sin of the world dying in our place. It is the principle of the scapegoat, the substitutionary sacrifice.

Jesus offers up the opportunity to no longer be in spiritual death separated from God, facing eternal judgement in Hell but we can be forgiven, we can be cleansed from our sins.

2 Corinthians 5:21 states, 'For he made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in him.'

because sin brings us spiritual death in hell

with out our sins being removed we will not see heaven.
the sacrifice is needed to have god cleanse us of sin.

before jesus they will be judged by what they did by God

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Rom 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

It's also about sending a message. Things don't always workout the way we think it should workout. Maybe face value doesn't matter much when dealing with complex being such as us.

Just an opinion.

According to Christians Jesus came to allow serial killers and robbers into heaven.

Consider the fact that "Christians" don't keep the Jewish law. Although claim Jesus was a Jew which doesn't make sense.

Logic itself disproves Christianity one doesn't even need to argue scripture.

Also to add in. Why would Yahweh give Moses laws then later change his mind that Jesus can replace the laws. When according to Malachi 3:6 "GOD never changes for the children of Jacob are not consumed".

Moses' story was based on correction which granted you a chance into heaven. Which is why Yahweh gave Moses the laws.

Since the gospels are such a load of lies. Lets just say the foretold messiah taught the law and he did not die such as Jesus and that he was not God but a regular human and a prophet. That's what the prophets foretold of. Not this Jesus commandment breaker we read about in the gospels.

I think people of all time are eligible for Salvation whether before or after Christ's crucifixion. God is not hindered by time. Also, in my opinion the Crucifixion wasn't something meant to satisfy God for the purpose of redeeming anyone. The drama of the Crucifixion is and was entirely for the purpose of providing a basis for faith -- for those who need a demonstration of that severity. For everyone, however, it is rich in symbolism. The Bible tells us about the slaying of a perfect sacrifice, such as of an unblemished lamb in the Old Testament. Use your intelligence. God does not delight in an animal sacrifice or a burnt offering. The act is entirely for the benefit of the people who perform it. For mental and spiritual cleansing. It is something that primitive people could understand, and be positively affected by it. It served as a psychological catharsis. The renewal and refreshed minds that resulted following a ritual sacrifice is what pleased God. Don't ask me to explain why God didn't just change our psyches. I'm sure God knew what he was doing when he created us as we are. Next, in the latter days of the Bible a Messiah came. Jesus. He represents the lamb. No more sacrifices and burnt offerings are necessary anymore. Thank God for that and no doubt PETA Christians are knodding their heads who read this.

Hebrews 9:22 *And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Old Testament was dedicated with blood:

Exodus 24:6 *And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 *And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8 *And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

The New Testament was dedicated with blood:

Hebrews 9:11 *But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 *Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 *For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 *How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 *¶And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16 *For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 *For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
18 *Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
19 *For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
20 *Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21 *Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22 *And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
23 *¶It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 *For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
25 *Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
26 *For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 *And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28 *So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Good questions.. first the Bible addresses those that died before the atonement. Those are the souls in prison Jesus preached to.
These waited until the atonement. The atonement was for everyones sins and those before the atonement worshiped God in faith as we after the atonement, it is still by faith we are saved.

Now to the atonement..God is the righteous Creator and the one who sustains our life. When man sinned he separated himself from righteous God. This separation from God is death.
This is the reason the Son became flesh, to overcome temptation, sin and death as a man under the law.
It is man who inherited death because of sin and Christ overcame sin and death..Jesus paid the penalty of sin with his flesh...he paid the penalty of sin which is death and because he is righteous overcame sin and death. It is through the righteousness and atonement Jesus provides that we can be made new. We now can be righteously joined to God which is eternal life.

If God wanted to forgive our sins, he should have just done so. But instead, God's an Ass. He felt that his son needed to be tortured in order to forgive our sins.

It was hatred, jealousy murder, covetousness, homosexuality stealing lying, all those sins and more led to Christ being crucified. Christ bore the wrath of God for us, while we were yet sinners, Hence His cry My God, My God why hast thou for saken me?" Our sins seperated Him from His heavenly Father, When Christ died physically, His spirit did not die, He descended into hell, where He preached to those who had never heard of Him, and on the third day He rose again, As God raised Him up again, and exalted Him above all and now sits at the right Hand of the Father to judge the living and the dead. Notice Christ was not in the same form as before His crucifixion He could come and go as He pleased, so also we who believe in Him, must put of the corruptible and inherit the incorruptible or eternal life.
