I have a 2000 word essay due in a few months and I was assigned the topic "The Era of the Buffalo Hunt" but i cant figure out what to argue about? Any hints or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
You could argue that the trappers and settlers wiping out the buffalo was a good thing because the herds measured into the thousands and would have made life tough in the suburbs and it would be hard for commenter's to get to work with thousands of Buffalo. However, I think African Buffalo are Buffalo and the beasts we have in America are Bison. Check it out.
Also those pesky Blackfeet kept killing off trappers and traders so killing off their food source gave them something else to worry about. Better not mention that.
It was seen a huge resource of quality meat, there for the taking and thousand were killed for sport or food.
In those days they would have just taken the cuts they wanted and leave the rest to the carnivours and birds.
Today's butchers use and sell every lb thaey can from cattle and those that can get bisons and buffalos
