I help at a school with grades k-3rd and sometimes get major whiners that use their whiny voice when they don't want to do something. I am trying not to say things like "I don't like it when you whine", cause some of them don't care whether I like it or not and they keep on doing it. Instead I try to focus on telling them what their behaviour tells me about them. "You're in your seat that tells me you are ready to begin working." I see you looking at that tells me your ready for me to get started" "You're being quiet that tells me you are ready to listen" Please help me finish the following sentences, using the above examples: When you whine it tells me that.......
When you complain it tells me that.......
When you argue it tells me that.....
When you are disrespectful it tells me that......
When you disobey me it tells me that.....
I usually end up filling it in with "it tells me that you don't mind missing recess" I would like to find something better to say.
Thanks
