a web-based software, that users in an organization can use to share files and upload files... etc ,usually installed locally (local org server), for high speed download and upload of files among users.no ,, not like that.. its a website that give the ability to users to share files, upload, download from..the website can run on a network (Interanet) no need for internet connection.
 
Are you talking about an FTP server/client, maybe? Or a peer-to-peer network? There's quite a few different types of software that fit your description, but these two seem to be the closest to what you're looking for.

My own reccomendation would be to try Hamchi. it is a free client that requires very little setup and allows users to create their own private network, enabling them to see each others shard files and printers ect, even on different networks. I have it working in two towns an hour apart, and it even works through both firewalls.

Hi, there are several onces... check "Community server" (this one is in ASP.net), Alfresco ( Java-based)..There are CMS (content management software) that can help you achieve that...Including some wiki software, were you can groups of user can edit files, shared files, upload and download files... etc..I'll recommend a Xwiki (Java-based)...this software are Free except for "The community server"...if you can spend some money you can use some Microsoft Office servers... Sharepoint, exchange... I am not too much fan of Microsoft... if I was you I'll check "Community server"... hope that helps...by the way, for this software you need a server... for web-based and web-hosted I recomend you to look in 37signals (google it) really cool solutions for biz...
