we just rescued a 4 week kitty 2 days ago but we already have 3 adult cats,2 female and 1 male i was wondering what was a safe way to introduce the cats to my male kitty? anysuggestions greatly appreciated

In this situation, ther are four steps you need to follow. OTher wise they might be come enemies and not freinds.
1. take cloth that each has been sleeping on and let the kitten smell it and vise versa. With your older cats smelling the kittens bedding.
2. Introduce them via closed door. The kitten on one side the cats on the other.
(note: these may seem pointless but cats are very curios so this will make them even more curious making these last two steps a brease.
3 let them see eachother for short supervised visits.
4. After doing these steps. about 2-3 days per step allow them to be together all of them for at least the entired day if this works out well no other intorducing steps are needed. if not go back to step one and repeat.
Hope this helps. Best of Luck :)

Keep him enclosed in a room with you in it for a few weeks. Sometimes, let them out so they can sniff eachother.

I've dealt with this situation many times over the years. I have nine cats now and have tried everything from putting them in a room by themselves and letting them sniff at each other under the door, to just letting them wander and see what happens.

What seemed to work best for me is that I take the new kitten and set him/her in my lap in the middle of the living room. The other cats would come around and sniff, maybe hiss and then eventually go about there business. It allowed them to get to know each other, while I'm there to intervene if anything happens.

If the kitten was very small I would keep him/her in the room alone with me at night so I could be assured nothing would ensue. During the day I let him/her explore the house, find the litter box and food and just kept a close eye on the others. Some were more obstinate than others and hissed and growled for about two weeks, but they all eventually got use to it and they became one big happy family.

My only exception was with my first cat. I had her for five years before getting another cat. Up until the day she died she didn't ever really warm up to any of them. She would let them sleep by her or walk by without incident, but playing and touching her was out of the question. It might have been that five years was just too long to wait before incorporating another kitten - or that she just had an attitude. ;)

i would say put up some kind of boundery where they can interact but not be together. a good example of this is a gate with bars far apart. put the adult kittys on one side and the kitten on the other. the put a toy on one side right nest to the gate and wiggle it around. also you can just have two people on each side stroking them as they look at each other and put there paws on the other side. they may not do the things i listed but it will introduce them to each other.
