What's the deal with the Alltel-Verizon merger?

I'm an Alltel customer, and have been since 2005.
I am still under contract.
So, is Alltel letting people move over to Verizon without having to pay an early termination fee?
Because I signed up for Alltel service.
Not Verizon.
