I read a book in middle school about this boy that hitch-hikes and travels around. It also is about a bird or something to do with the grand canyon. I really feel like it starts with an M, but I'm not sure. It would be an older book, since I'm 21 now.
Also, the boy rode with this old man for a while and he taught him some stuff, was very wise, etc. I'm sorry, I don't have much to go on, but I'd love to know the title and find that book.
