She is a German Shepherd cross just over 1 years old.
The other day we took her for a walk in the bush, she ate a lot of grass, those ones with the spikey wheat thing on top. I know dogs do this to be sick and she was. About a football size amount of grass came up and thats it. She was still sick that night. The next day she was back to normal. Then the day after she started hacking up alot(not bringing anything up). That night every time she took a bite of her dinner she would do a short sharp squeal but keep eating. She also has thick glue like saliva coming from one side of her mouth (she never was a drooler).
We took her to the vet this morning and he said he couldn't find anything wrong with her unless they put her under and a camera into her. This is going to cost $400 and I simply don't have it (student) I wish I did. I think maybe she has one of the grass heads stuck in her throat or something.
Has any one had this happen to their dog? What was it? How did you fix it?
If there is something stuck in her is there any way (product or trick) to soften or dislodge it?

I am really worried, she isn't happy and loving like normal, she always tries to be alone.

Most vets are willing to make payment arrangements such as paying in installments or gradually paying off your debts. If you really love your dog and want it to live, call various vets around your area and try to make this arrangement. however, if you do not wish to do this, perhaps surrendering your animal would be the next option?
are you absolutely sure you cannot borrow money from someone or perhaps taking your dog to another vet?
it definitely sounds like those grassheads did a lot of damage, please be more careful in what your dog consumes and monitor it carefully.
thank you

Foxtail.

Paying $400 now is a better idea -- if you wait, it could cost you a whole lot more.

ADD:

Foxtails are barbed -- they can go in, but cannot come out. The only way to remove them is having a vet go in and get it.

Best you let the Vet put her under and a camera. Your dog needs the Vets help, she may have swallowed a sharp bone or something. I hope not too serious, poor thing. You may have to ask the Vet if you can pay in installments. If she needs surgery, it will be more than $400 I'm afraid.

Many grass seeds have barbs similar too fishing hooks. Unless you find the money to treat your dog, she will get worse and worse - she is already in pain, you KNOW she is, and you HAVE to treat her howver your vet sees fit. Speak to a welfare society to see if they can loan you money - or ask your vet if you can pay off the bill weekly. WHatever, you HAVE to address this, as you are being cruel leaving her in pain - and you really dont seem like a cruel person.

Those things with a "wheat thing" on top are deadly.
Native Americans used to mix them with cut up meat to kill roaming dogs that would scare away buffaloes. The tops of those weeds stab the inside of the dog's stomach.
Get your dog to a vet.

Is her poop normal? Check deep inside her mouth with your fingers if you can feel anything. Especially around teeth.
Don't feed anything to her for 24 hrs. Just water with some honey. Often these things clear out on their own.
Best of luck.
