Hello guys!!!
O/S: Windows XP PRO (sp3)

I hope, some of guys can help me with this DVD-Rom issue. The problem with my DVD-Rom, is that every time, I insert a DVD disc into the DVD-Rom...it makes a sound, i think is trying to read the disc...but nothing happens. So when, I go to "My Computer" and check the "Drive (D:)", I don't see nothing...is like NO disc in the Drive (D:).
BUT, If I insert like a blank disc it works perfectly or also when I inset PC Game Disc to play it works perfectly too! :)...So, Why does DVD Disc don't work??? I do have DVD Rom install (Multi-Rom).

I wen't to the "Regedit" section and also "Device Manager" everything is working ok! :)

It was working fine before, and suddenly it went dead on the DVD Discs :(

So, Why my DVD-Rom don't play DVD Disc anymore??? Do I have to buy a new DVD-Rom???
or MAYBE something got burn/fried on the DVD-Rom connections (i hope not).

Thanks you in advance! :)

The focus (through the clear plastic of the disk to the metallic part) of the lens for a DVD is different than that for a CD.

It is entirely possible that the CD reading function of the drive can work normally while the DVD reading part is completely broken.

While I am not completely sure as to WHY this may have happened, I can give you some advise:

Buy a new DVD-R (DVD - writable) drive. I'm pretty sure yours is broken.

They cost around $26-$45 online, depending on how much you want to pay.
You can easily install it yourself.
Don't be afraid to work on the inside of your own computer. Just remember to touch grounded metal before you touch the inside parts and dust everything clean (with compressed air in a can) before replacing anything.

The best places to go to buy computer parts are newegg and tigerdirect. They have the best prices and best service.

Possibilities: Bad/missing drivers
Registry issues
Worn out part(s)
Fix: Re-install Windows or buy a new drive
