Q: Do people actually think the Earth as only been around for 6000 years? A: No one really knows how old the earth is. As an analyst, I'm often uncomfortable with predictions/estimates outside the range of collected data. We don't have any observations from millions and billions of years ago. We can make conjectures about how light behaves and if everything else held constant, make predictions. However, again, we don't know if everything held constant, it's just an assumption. If the earth is only 6000 years old, its because things weren't held constant for millions and billions of years, the universe was put in motion by a creator. And at that time it was made with the appearance of age (maybe so the laws of physics set in motion would hold ... i don't know just a conjecture as to why).
