They're pretty fun little vehicles. It depends if you are getting a new or used one. Some used jeeps do have problems, but most of the time it's just because of age or poor care. Take your time to do research.
Not much and it is according to what one you are looking for.
The Jeep Cherokee is the best one or the Grand cherokee..
If you get in the Jeep cj then you will have rain leaking in when it
rains hard. I am not sure about the hard tops.
Wranglers are notorious for electrical problems, and most have problems sealing the weather out *if you use aftermarket tops*. If you get a Wrangler, opt for the manual shift. Automatics in the Wranglers are clunky, and expensive to fix. The Four Doors handle like Grand Cherokees, while the Two Doors still offer the overall fun ride quality, tight handling, and wet weather traction of earlier year wranglers. The V6 is powerful...go for the 3.73 axle...you will appreciate the extra grab!
The Commander and Grand Cherokee are one in the same. The only problems noted with them is lack of dealer know-how, and mechanic skill. They are trained on how to work with Jeeps, not the Daimler Chrysler Jeeps as of late. The V6's are underpowered, but the V8's *4.7* *5.7 HEMI* *6.1 HEMI* are formatable powerplants. My mother has the 5.7 HEMI, and gets 17 MPG, because of the MDS, which kicks the V8 down to a V4 when you are not laying down on the pedal.
The New Liberty's are awesome, and offer a power rag-top sunroof, that retracts past the back seats for open air fun! Opt. for the larger axle...it does weigh alot!
The Patriot and Compass...4cyl Dodge. Why pay an extra 2000 premium on the Jeep name for a Dodge with a Dodge engine, and Dodge interior?
