I’m thinking about getting a newer car and by newer I mean something newer then my 89 Buick Century. My Buick is great! It only has 75K original miles but I’m ever so tired of the grandpa style car at my age. I have been sort of looking at PT Cruisers & Chrysler Sebring’s BUT I have noticed one thing that concerns me a great deal. There’s a ton of both model cars for sale with low miles at a low price. Should that be a little warning sign that either one of these are known to be problem ridden vehicles. Does anyone know of any known problems with these style cars? I just don’t want to run into the problem I had 4 years ago when my Malibu needed new intake gaskets at 100K miles and it just so happened that the 5 other people I knew that had a Malibu had the same problem. THANKS
I never asked anyones opinion on looks, just whether they are mechanically sound or problem ridden. One would think that if I'm already considering purchasing one that I like the looks of them, hell I mean seriously the PT Cruiser I'm looking at is a booger greenish-yellow color and well I think it rocks!

Very Ugly cars.

I worked in dealerships.

Me and my co workers called it the PT Loser.
And the both the Sebring and PT Loser were very hard to sell because they were ugly, unreliable cars with no advantages.

the sebring is the better car. I have known people who have said they were unhappy driving a pt cruiser. I have seen many sebrings in bad shape. They need a lot of maintenance and I have seen many bad engines and suspension parts.

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser and it's a great car. I bought it used in 2006, other than regular maintenance, I have had no problems with the vehicle. And there are tons of mods available for them.

The gas mileage could be better, that is my only complaint.

The only reason there are a lot of these cars on the car lots, is because so many people purchased them.

In fact when I moved to my new neighborhood, the woman next door and the woman across the street both have them and I see them all over town. They are great cars for single women or women with no children. I have 2 toddlers and it fits them and all of their stuff just fine.

But I will be upgrading as I can only fit one other person in the car with the car seats in back. Really only made for 4 adults.

I would love the Sebring only because of the seat positioning. I commute 25 mi each way and sitting upright for all that time, hurts my back.
