WHEN & HOW to introduce peanut butter to a baby? WHEN & HOW to introduce other

nut butters? A) My guy and I are curious when to introduce the normal peanut butter to our daughter(14 months) and how would I serve it to her?
B) Is it ok to give her natural or not natural?
C) How long does it take for a reaction; signs, skin rashes? ect..

Its fine for her to have peanut butter now. Personally I love natural but that is a personal choice. Any allergy would show quickly. In terms of a mild reaction such as a rash to severe such as trouble breathing. Severe reactions are not super common despite what you may hear on the news.Holding off things such as peanuts(though peanuts are not actually a nut) does not reduce chances of allergies. It may in fact increase it. You could try giving her PB&J or crackers with a little peanut butter. I would not give it to her just by itself as it is sticky and gooey and can be hard for her to swallow. Jelly helps it go down better, even plain bread or crackers will do.

Most doctors say wait until they are 2 yr.

If she is allergic to peas hold off on the peanut butter

My granddaughter was started on peanut butter with peanut butter crackers and peanut butter flavored cereal... just to see if she liked the taste. She prefers the Nuttella (hazelnut) and cream cheese and jam.

W.I.C. provides peanut butter to children once they turn one year.

as long as there are no known or suspected food allergies, your child can eat the exact same healthy foods as the rest of the family. peanut butter can be a choking hazard -limit the amount you serve & use nuts in your recipes instead. nut milks are a great source of protein & will allow him to enjoy cereal in the morns.
