When I plug my earphones in my itouch 3g, the music sounds weird?

This was probably asked a lot. I am positively sure it's not the earphones. When I plug the earphones in the laptop, it works perfectly. When I play the music w/ out the headphones, the sound from the itouch 3g comes out perfectly... I can barely hear the singer's voice and the instruments either.. Help please!
