When is it safe to stop seeding my own torrent?

I made a torrent and am seeding it. I don't want the torrent to die early, so I want to know a good time to stop seeding.

you can seed it for a few days until you have several seeders in the swarm, or as suggested you can seed it for quite a while if you have no immediate need to the full capacity of your internet line.
