i know for a fact that fiat and alfa romeo are sending their cars into the united states. ive actually seen the new alfa romeo 8c coupe here in the untied states. now, when will their new cars go on sale here. i was reading my car and driver magazine and i saw that alfa romeo is sending 6 to 8 different vehicles to the united states. and they were all saying the 2013 model. so im guessing that is when the cars will officially go on sale, around 2012 and 2013? and apparently fiat is bringing in 2 new models. through what dealerships are they going to be selling fiats and alfa romeos? or are they going to start building their own dealers here in the united states?

you can order any car you want from the factory and have it shipped to the states,But if it doesn,t meet U.S standard you will have to have the work done at a shop. Its done all the time. But its going to cost you.

With the car market the way it is, even that may be longer. It's doubtful that either company will set-up a factory here. I read the same C/D article. The main hold up here is the fact that the cars must meet the USA standards for cars, i.e, crash tests, safety tests, emissions tests and a host of other things before they'll get the green light to be able to sell those cars in the US. Then there's the liability factor of the manufacturer for their products. There's a very large investment on the part of the manufacturer. The Alfa that you saw was probably a "Special" case car, granted a "Limited" use permit by the government. There are plenty of "Limited" use cars in the country, but most going to car collectors, dealers or shows.
