Where can I enter an amateur mma fight?

I live out in New York City. My best friend is interested in giving mma a try. He has many years of wrestling experience. Are there any fights he can sign up for in New Jersey?
 
As far as I know you have to have proof of MMA training or sign in under a certified MMA trainer.
