I am curious as to what is the best way to go about this. Is it cheaper and better to get custom built? any good websites that ship to the UK?. I'm looking for something that could maybe play battlefield 3 on medium settings with fair FPS, any info on what processors are good/bad are appreciated as I'm not too hot with tech lately, thanks

Oh my price range is about £600 - £800 (About $1100)
 
Trust me, make your own, it's way cheaper than having someone else build it or buying a branded one, you get a lot more for the money, and they're way easier to make than you would think.
