I recently remembered this site, group, whatever it is called alt.suicide.holiday, and when I did some research on it, it appeared that there was no real site for it, but a Usenet newsgroup that I would need the right software for. Well, when I clicked on it, a configuration thing (from my computer, not from the site) was asking for my name, e-mail address, etc., but I did not fill those out, thinking that it's probably safer to just get the software were I don't have to click Next to see the next question so I don't accidentally give out unknown information or anything.I also discovered recently what IRC was through MegaTokyo and other sites, and was wondering where I can get that software as well.Basically, for these newsgroups and IRC channels and such, where can I get the software, how much does it cost, and is it free?

Two oldies, but goodies: Xnews, and mIRC.http://xnews.newsguy.com/http://www.mirc.com/Xnews is free, and mIRC is free for 30 days. You can also use some of the free multi-IM clients for IRC (e.g., Pidgin, Trillian, or Miranda IM).
