Where did the practice of "disfellowshipping" ( as in the JW's) originate ?

[QUOTE="littlescrubbingbubble, post: 2620457, member: 621443"] From the Bible. 2nd John 9-11--Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. 10) If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him. 11) For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works. Note that a person is not simply tossed out, but repeated efforts are made to show the person from the Bible how they are deviating from God's word. If they choose to continue, then they have chosen to abandon God, and the congregation must remain loyal to God above all. If the person chooses to rectify themselves and bring themselves back into line with God's word, they are welcomed back with open arms. Any Christian faith that does not have a disfellowshipping process (though it should be used sparingly and ONLY when an individual refuses to correct him- or herself after repeated warnings) and allows those who refuse to follow God in to their respective congregations and remain to twist the beliefs of others is ignoring the Bible.
