Where do I find gadgets for installation on the desktop?

My Acer computer with Windows Vista recently crashed completely and I was persuaded to erase everything and start all over from factory configuration. So I am now trying to put everything back together again. I no longer remember where I got the clock, calendar, etc. that I had on my desktop. The only gadgets I can now find are the ones that show up on the homepage, where I don't want them.
