Where do I get appraisal and sale for estate stamp collection?

A friend died with a large, semi sorted collection of American postage stamps. He was collecting since about 1960 so there should be some interesting stamps in the collection. Where do I go for an appraisal? How do I go about selling the collection? What are old stamps worth these days?
