Conversion Van? I can't afford a mechanic, or drop the gas tank by myself, so I am just going to cut a little "Trap-Door" on the floor inside the Van, above the gas tank, and hopefully replace it that way. I did the same thing in the hatch back of my 1994 Fire Bird, and it worked fine. I can't see anything when I look under the Van, and I can't see where the gas lines even go into the tank, so I don't know where to cut the hole through the floor? The Van is dead in my drive way so I can't move it, and I have no way of jacking it up either, so cutting the hole is my only option. The tank is at the very back of the Van, and inside the Van in the back (when you lift up the carpet) there is a large bar bolted down to the floor running the width of the Van between the wheel wells, about 3' in from the rear doors. Could someone tell me where the pump is, and where to cut the hole? I'm stranded here with my 3 year old daughter, and need some help ASAP! Thank You very very much! Britneyann.
PS: I can not move the Van because it wont start, and I have no way of jacking it up to get under it, plus it is sitting on an angle in my drive way. Even if I could jack it up enough to get under it, everything is rusty, and I'm pretty sure the nuts & bolts would break, plus that type of job is a little too much for me to do with my limited tools and experience.
My only choice seems to carefully cut a hole through the floor, and replace the fuel pump like I did with my other car. Then afterward, I would cover the hole with sheet metal, etc.
Unless there is something else that I am able or capable of doing myself... I have the tools needed to carefully cut the hole, but I am just Not able (or capable) to drop the tank, so it looks like I will have to install my own access panel to reach the fuel pump, but I just need to know WHERE to cut it?
Thank You again...
