I really want a bike but have no clue where to start or what to look for. Would buying something new be smarter or used until I become more familiar with it? Any ideas or suggestions and what price would I expect to pay for a nice sport bike new and used??
Hey man it all depends on what you're looking for. If you want a good, dependable trail bike that would be easy to ride, go with a Honda Crf 230, or a Yamaha TTR 230. They're easy to maintain, don't have tons of power, but you can tell it's there. You could find a nice used one for under two thousand if you look.
If you're looking for a bike to hill climb, jump, or ride motocross on, you should go with a 250 cc fourstroke. They're more expensive to maintain and have a lot of power, but they're a blast to ride. it would be hard to get used to the power if you're new to bikes, but it's a fourstroke so you can take it easy on it, whereas a two stroke is a whole new story.
