My low antifreeze light is on, My reservoir is full of antifreeze and there is nothing leaking from the car. I could have sworn that i did not have any heat yesterday when i first noticed the light, but i might have just had it on defroster which would keep the air from blowing out of the vents on the dash. Also, i had to drive it home yesterday when i noticed the light. I drove about 20 miles, and the temperature gauge looked to be at the same spot it always is, it didn't seem to be any higher than normal, reinforcing my thought that maybe it's just a faulty sensor.

I just turned it on and kept it in park for a few minutes and heat is definitely blowing out nice and warm. That would mean the antifreeze is circulating from the engine to the heater core right? So i'm thinking maybe there's something wrong with the sensor? I've heard that my particular model of malibu has had A LOT of electrical issues so maybe i've finally gotten my first one. If it is the sensor how much are those to replace?

I have the same car and was getting a lot of overheating warnings, I looked at the radiator cap, it was worn, the rubber was broken once I replaced the cap. I did not get the warning again. I do not know where the antifreeze senor is, never heard of one before. If you go to the library they have details books on line and you can look it up there. Ask the reserve librarian Sorry I could not be of more help but it is 1 am here and I cannot go outside. I will look in the morning see if there is something in the manual.
