These two laptops I am looking at are both great deals...

Which will have better battery life though? The Athlon laptop or the Core 2 Duo? Also, would the performance difference be worth the battery life difference? Furthermore, which would I want for overall specs?

Please and thank you yahoo answers community.

ok, in terms of battery life, you generally have 2 main options:

1. bigger battery: batteries come in 3 cell (2000 mAh), 6 cell (4000 mAh) and higher.

2. power use: smaller laptops (13" screen or smaller) use less power. however, the CPU is the biggest power user in the computer. as a general rule, the more cores you have the more power it uses. however, 2 cores seems to be the best balance between processing power and battery life.

that being said, the two computers here should be nearly identical in power use and battery life.
