I've been thinking about sambo and leaning towards it the most but I am now also considering krav-maga and kajikembo(I think I spelt right). only have time for one as I like to completely focus on one style at a time. I'm looking mostly for general self-defense that could also be used in some casual wrestling matches with friends. Also, I'm a bit out of shape so I want to try and get back into shape and burn some fat. Thanks.

I think Krav-maga would be a good choice too! You mentioned that you wanted to do some casual wresting, have you considered Brazilian jujitsu? It's a good martial art to start with if you are out of shape too! But then again any martial art will get you in great shape, even Tai Chi burns burn more calories than surfing! Most people find that surprising becuz it is mostly slow movements.
See if you can go to some open classes first. Most Dojos and gyms allow a free introductory class! :)

Good luck!!

still with fake wrestling. it's the coolest.... for red necks, douche bags, 4th graders, and other douche bags.

Well since your mostly looking for general self-defense and a work out and some fun, I would recommend Judo/Jujitsu. It's great for self-defense because 77% of regular fights end up on the ground. Which is where 90% of Judo/Jujitsu takes place. For the work out concept of it its incredible!!! When your in a gi (Judo/Jujitsu outfit) those get you sweating, are safe, and provide mobility. For fun I would recommend getting a friend, relative or loved one to take up the class with you.

I would look into Krav Maga. It is the martial arts that the Israeli Defence Force uses. Its pretty intense.

Do a google search of martial art schools in your area. Then look up your options online and see which art you like the most. From their, compile a list of schools near you that teach this art and go visit these schools. Make sure the instructors are knowledgeable and that the school isn't a McDojo, meaning there are no 6 year old black belts and the art is geared towards self defense. If you can't decide after visiting all the schools, go to the cheapest or closest one.
