Which option is better? IPHONE HELP!?

OK so I have T-Mobile and I really want to get an iPhone! So which option is better? What are the repercussions of each?

1) Get the iPhone 3gs (cause i heard it works on t mobile) and wait until t mobile and at&t merge then get the iPhone 4s and give my iPhone to my friend who said she'd take it.

2) Just bite the bullet and switch carriers now, paying the extra costs and get the iPhone 4s now.

Neother is a good choice. You would need an unlocked 3gs and it would be a hacked unlock. Unless you know exactly how to keep it unlocked, you'd relock it in a heartbeat and have a paperweight.

Why spend all the money to switch carriers for the 4s when the 2012 iPhone has always been rumored to be the 4g iPhone? That's going to be the phone to switch carriers for.
