Homo habilis actually appears to have first been discovered in 1960 by Jonathan Leakey. That's two years before his parents Louis and Mary Leakey. Dart discovered Australopithecus africanus in 1924. Now a 1986 discovery has led many, including the Leakey's middle son Richard, to claim habilis is not a species of the genus Homo but rather a species of the genus Australopithecus. So it then becomes Australopithecus habilis.
