Usually, I LOVE killing off one of my main characters at the end of a novel.
BUT for my current novel, I made the decision this morning that none of my darlings are going to die. When I first started writing it, I had decided that one of the characters had to die. I have the main protag and then I have two side kicks and a third minor character who plays a major role. I LOVE THEM ALL! They're probably the most likeable characters I"ve written, even though they're sometimes up to no good.
I thought of it this way, if I were reading my novel and one of my favorite characters was killed off, I'd be pissed. With that, I'm not killing of any of babies. MUAHHAHAHAHAH.
Anyone else in the same boat?
BQ: And, since I know some people will respond just to rattle off how they've killed nearly every character they've ever created and how ALL great books MUST have someone die (not!), I've decided to have a bonus question for those of you who''ll respond even though my question isn't aimed at you.
