Holy Spirit/Ghost, or Jesus? The trinity claims that God the Father, Jesus Christ (His Son), and the Holy Spirit/Ghost are the same God. The scriptures say that the Holy Spirit overcame/overshadowed Mary when she conceived Jesus. The scriptures also say that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. So who fathered (with Mary) Jesus?
The question is "Who fathered Jesus Christ?" So far, I've seen a bunch of answers that avoided answering the question. Also, I have not seen any scriptures supporting the beliefs (about Jesus' father) being expressed.

Keep in mind that the baptism of Jesus presented each as a separate entity -- Jesus was coming up out of the water (after being baptized by John), the Father was speaking from heaven ("This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased") and the Holy Spirit was descending as in the form of a dove.

It appears that the Father (who was speaking from heaven) is the Father of Jesus in this case. Yet some of you claim that the three are one... okay (certainly they could not have been the same physical manifestation) and to argue that each is a different manifestation doesn't work well, either.

The only reason that someone might consider this to be a trolling question is if they don't have a response (even for themselves).
I am _not_ asking for the "how" it happened, but _who_ fathered Jesus. Is that hard for you folks to understand?

Was it God (the Father)?
Was it the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost)?
Was it Jesus (as God -- in the Trinity).

In those passages of the conception, it appears to be the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost), though one person said it was by the _power_ of the Holy Ghost.

At the baptism of Jesus, God (the Father) claims Jesus is his son. That claim is repeated elsewhere in the New Testament.
