I had parked my car at a parking meter at a University. These meters are on a walkway which is about 3-4 inches above the parking space.
Anyways, so they recently removed the meters and now have some kind of filling instead.
The filling is about 3-4 inches in height and about 3-4 inches in width. It is metal surrounded by think black rubber type material.
So, while parking, i went a little too far not knowing when to stop and that metal filling pierced bottom of my brand new car (Ouch!). Usually if a meter is there, then i know that i am approaching the meter and stop.
(In case you are wondering and so was I, the new meters are installed 3 ft behind the original place)
So, is it possible to claim money from or sue whoever(city or the university) that metered space belongs to? Or this is considered my negligence?
Please help. Thank you.
