I need someone to read the first 17 pages of my novel. They are edited, but it's not the final draft. Story background: It's sci-fi set on modern Earth. It's an alien abduction novel (no big-eyed, green aliens). There are three points-of-view; two humans and an alien. The first two chapters are from the Alien's POV. This is two years after a failed alien mass abduction plan (my first novel). I'm looking for feedback on a few main things: 1) Is it too fast-pace for an opening chapter? 2) Do you feel like you're reading the beginning of a novel, or jumping into the middle of it? 3) Do the characters seem real and are they likable? 4) Do you understand what's happening or understand the gist of the storyline after reading them? 5) Would you keep reading? Lastly, I need to know if you were satisfied with how I ended the last scene in those 17 pages, when the two "aliens" are in the motel (G-rated, haha). I want to know if you thought it was weak how I ended it or if you were satisfied. I've had a bit of problems trying to get my character out of that situation, lol, so this is what I've come up with after mulling it over. Tell me what you think. And, I want to know any other thoughts you have. You don't have to read it all. If you stop reading, just let me know where and why so I can take another look and find ways to revise it, but I think it's pretty fast-paced and interesting, so you might not want to put it down, haha. DON'T BE AFRAID TO BE HARSH IN YOUR CRITICISM. I need someone who's direct and blunt. If you're nice, that's fine too, I just need to know Honest opinions! If you're interested, send me a mail with your email address, and I'll email you the pages. I can't post it all here because it's too long; likewise with using the Answers mail system. So, email is the only way.
