Who manufactures the engine for 2005 Acura MDX? Where can I buy a replacement...

...engine 3.5L V6? And... Can I use just any engine for Acura MDX without taking into consideration the VIN number or Engine number?
I know that some people will say "go to the Acura dealer" but I need to know any other alternatives since some dealers will "take your arm and legs" on things like these.
 
find a business that sells used acura engines from japan. japan has high emission standards and there are lots of low mileage engines for sale.

The engine is "manufactured" by Acura (Honda). If you mean remanufactured, there are many places that do it. Try eBay for a start, unless you want to call around to local parts stores, or use car-part.com. This kind of thing has to be special ordered. A dealer will cost you 8-10k for a new one.
