billions or the people? On one hand they have the corporate lobbyists who visit their offices every day with expensive gifts and promising lots of money and on the other hand they have some vague concept of "The People". How do people think that they are the top priority of the Republican or Democratic party?

The corporations. The democrats are worse than the republicans, but both are bad.

That is why I hate politics, but it all has to come to a head at some point and burst. I hope I'm no longer living when that happens because it is going to be worse than the Holocaust.

The two parties represent the 1%

Meet the 1%

I usually vote Democrat
However I am not a political Party Sheep
and will not vote political party unless the other party is just so bad ( like the Republican candidates ) though I may be disappointed with Democrats in Office .
If Ron Paul would run as an Independent I might vote for him because he does not seem to be controlled by a Corporate political puppet master .
I think because Corporations virtually Own Our Politicians that they have gained ownership of our country as well.
I want to take Our Country Back and see Our country be once again a country that Is By the People and For The People .

Unfortunately it seems that BOTH are for the corporations these days but I guess the Democrats are slightly more for the people than Republicans

Both parties pander to corporations, but at least the republicans are honest about it. Their core argument is to protect job creators while the democrats give a false sense of security, claiming they are working for the people but in actuality are doing the same thing the republicans are doing.

Their own interests/lust for power. They're smart enough to realize that their bread is buttered by the corporations, so that's who they pander to. The people only matter during campaign season, until the polls are closed.

Democrats and Republicans are working together to do the bidding of the ultra wealthy power elite, using mass unemployment to force U.S. born workers back into the sweatshops. They are using free trade to send jobs out of the country, and they are using H1B visas and illegal immigrant workers to soak up jobs here in this country, all to create a scarcity of jobs for U.S. born workers.

Democrats and Republicans put on a public display of fighting over things, so they can set us to fighting amongst ourselves. Then while we're occupied with issues like flag burning, abortion, and the debt ceiling, the politicians meet in secret to conspire against us behind our backs.

I think the problem is that no one can get elected to national office without accepting the money from the corporations and the wealthy elite that own them. If you have to take the money to get elected you are forced to represent the interests of the donors or you don't get reelected. The main difference I see between the two parties is that the Democrats introduce legislation for election reform, trying to change this situation but then the Republicans always vote this legislation down. It seems the Democrats are bought, but wish that they weren't, the Republicans are bought and like it that way. The key issue to fix this situation is serious election reform and the only way we will get it is to elect a large majority of Democrats so that we can pass this critical legislation. This is part of what the Occupy movement is about, taking our government back from the richest among us and giving it back to the people.

The two main parties are pretty much the same in that respect. Either way, we are screwed unless we do something drastically different.
