This is not unusual at all. On the outside, it may appear that many guys are comfortable with PDA and confronting their feelings towards girls, but this is merely a misconception. In general, women are a lot more comfortable with pubic displays of affection than men. But absolutely no one likes admitting their feelings. I think it is more expected of men to do this because they typically do the 'asking out' in the relationship. You're still young. I'm 18 (female), and I still cannot admit my feelings, nor can many of the men around me. I know dozens of couples who don't engage in PDA (other than MAYBE holding hands). Don't worry about this discomfort at all! It's completely 100% normal. And girls, myself included, find that guys who hug too many girls are flirts, and don't want to date them because of it. I think it's more attractive when a guy is subtle about his feelings, and not so straight forward with every girl. Plus everyone's a little uncomfortable with PDA anyways.
