why are bell peppers so expensive?

i have tomato,squash and bell pepper plants in my garden and they produce just about the same amount.so why are the the peppers so expensive?
 
Prices go up when the commodity is scarce. It also goes up when the greedy monsters price it. Our economy is based on greed. They will charge as much as you will pay. Sorry about that.
