I am trying to understand why cats are not given the same amount
of respect as dogs. To many people, dogs seem to be a more valuable animal than cats, although there is no basis for this.
For example, if a dog is seen walking in the middle of the road, cars
will typically stop. Some will even get out of their car and try to
catch the dog and attempt to find its home. On the other hand, I have
seen where some cars will attempt to hit a cat if they see it crossing
the road.
There are many more abandoned and abused cats than there are dogs.
Even on YA, I see many, many more abusive, cruel or offensive responses in the cat section than there are in the dog section.
It is either social or psychological in origin. Does anyone have any
opinions?
