Too many questions at one time! But not that they cannot be taken care of. 1) One, God is the Source of light. Two, the earth was in a state where the sunlight did not reach the ground/water....much like planet Venus which is covered with clouds. 2) Not all are for consumption. Many are for medicinal purposes. Poisonous plants came up after Adam and Eve sinned - "It will produce thorns and thistles for you" (Gen. 3:18) 3) Both knew about the prohibition as evidenced from the words of Eve to the serpent. 4) God knew about it. The Tree of knowledge was there to test their faithfulness. Without the choice to disobey God they would function like robots. 5) Not everything was exterminated. We are proof of that. It was to show that men could not continue to disobey God with impunity. There would be a judgment in the future too. 6) There is no holy place on earth as when there was the Temple. It contained God's visible presence. Only the high priest was allowed to enter there once a year. If there were unconfessed sins among the congregation the priest would die. The bells conveyed to the people that the priest was alive and moving about. In the event he died, he had a string attached to his body to pull him out of the most holy place. 7)Evil spirits don't come FROM God. It's just a way of saying. When God's protection is withdrawn from a person evil spirits take control. By refusing to be on God's side people align themselves with the evil spirits. It is the choice that they make. 8) It's just a metaphor. Long before people knew the shape of the earth or its position in space, the Bible had declared - "He hangs the earth on nothing." (Job 26:7) 9) By choice. They chose evil instead of good. There was a time when no one knew what disobedience against God can lead to. Now everyone knows (or do they!) Thanks for asking.
