Because it is not really an issue. It is only an issue if countries adhere to Socialist policy. If they embrace free market Capitalism the massive increase in efficiency, productivity and wealth generation will eliminate issues of poverty, consumption and ecological matters. It is not by accident that the USA leads the world in wealth, cleanliness and food quality. Let me let you in on a little secret you probably never heard before. If you took all the people in the entire world, placed them into families of 4 and put them in three bedroom houses on 50 X100 ft lots, it would take an area roughly the size of Texas. Now I am not suggesting that we do that, it is only to illustrate how large the planet is and how small the human population is. We would be better served if all countries embraced Free Market Capitalism and had self determining governments. Do you realize how much lumber, farm-able land and other resources are wasted due to inefficient use? Modern farming methods can increase crop yield a hundred fold. Modern building techniques would greatly reduce the use of lumber. I offer these just as examples of how technology can change the equation. Do you know where the whole overpopulation issue came from? Socialism. You see, Socialism is nothing more than a system of rationing of existing wealth. It does not encourage efficiency or productivity or the competitive self interest that has propelled the USA from the poorest to the wealthiest country in just over a hundred years. It still is. And bear in mind, no Capitalist, democratic republic has ever gone to war with another Capitalist, democratic republic ever in the history of the world. *
