R6s, GSXRs, ZXRs, CBRs etc are everywhere. Why is it that you don't see many supermotos on the road (by supermoto I mean racing supermoto bikes, not dual-sports or enduro bikes)?
Surely something like a CRF450 in supermoto trim would be better on the road than a crotch rocket?
@Anonymous:
Only in a straight line. Supermotos are faster off the mark and round tight bends.

Super Motos are uncomfortable and not practical for long distances. You need four cylinders and a single is like a ladies drawer toy

Not to sound like a smart@ss, but sport bikes are more popular because that's what more people want and few people want supermotos. The same reasoning is why most older guys want a cruiser or tourer instead of a sport bike. Regardless of what type of bike it is, a person is going to choose that bike because it does what they expect of it. I do a lot of long haul riding and a 400-500 mile day is common. I ride a big full dress tourer because any other type of bike couldn't do that for me comfortably. A guy that never rides outside of the city limits isn't going to need a large fairing to break the wind. Someone wanting to go fast and hard around corners isn't going to want my big road whale. Someone wanting to ride in dirt isn't going to want a street bike. That doesn't mean there is any thing wrong with a super moto, just that fewer people want them.

Sport bikes are for men, supermoto are for boys !! no it just down to the individual i have both to be honest i have more fun on the supermoto, but the speed of my fireblade is awesome i crap myself every time. ha ha ha
